- WORKSHOP CALENDAR -
This is a rough guide to the workshop & the order of events may alter.
We are on a remote island & we need to have flexibility.
The days of our excursions may also change depending on the weather.
We gather in the upstairs meeting room each morning at 8.30 to share a lovely breakfast of fresh local breads, jams, cereals, fresh fruit
& yogurt to die for. By 9am we are in the studio.
Each day we finish around 2.30ish - the Greeks don't eat lunch till around this time & they don't go out for dinner until after 9pm. In case you get hungry, you can grab a snack at any time - fresh fruit & local treats are provided. This leaves you with plenty of time to continue to explore the island as it doesn't get dark until about 9pm.
DURING THE WORKSHOP YOU WILL
+ look at relief printing through the use of materials like linocut, woodblock, stamps, shaped blocks, alternative plates & by using electric & hand tools.
+ discover the island through drawing with traditional materials & the
eye of the camera.
+ use the artist's journal - which will be supplied as part of the course fees - to collect & document the inspiration we draw from the culture &
landscape of the island.
+ discuss technical and theoretical approaches like image & scale, chaos and geometry & the fundamental elements behind creating a single image.
+ look at building your images through layering, stencil, chine-collé, block preparation & brush techniques.
+ be shown press & registration procedures for the various approaches
