Skopelos is located in Greece - north east of Athens in the Aegean Sea. It is part of the Sporades group of islands which includes Alonnisos, Skiathos & Skyros. Unlike many sparsely vegetated Greek Islands, Skopelos is covered with virgin pine forests. Olive, plum & fig trees abound. There are around 350 churches, chapels & monastries on this mountainous 17 km long island.
Lots of tavernas, restaurants & coffee shops
Beautiful beaches with crystal clear water to swim in
Yogurt to die for
Walk the numerous kalderimi - cobblestone paths that criss-cross the island
There are 3 largish supermarkets & numerous small ones
All sorts of toiletries are available, including suntan creams & mosquito repellent - no need to let it slop around in your luggage
Yogurt to die for - have we mentioned that before ?
Medical centre but no hospital
A couple of pharmacies
Very limited art supplies & paper
Greek hospitality - bit of drinking, bit of eating, bit of dancing,
a lot of fun....
