GETTING TO SKOPELOS
You will need to organise your own travel to Greece & then to Skopelos. Below we have included details on ways to get to the Island & will happily help you with any further queries but we are not your travel agents.
SKOPELOS is a little bit difficult to get to
but that is what makes it very special.
Skopelos is located within the Sporades group of islands in the Aegean Sea,
north east of Athens. Skopelos is also the name of the main port and the administrative center of the island. This is where the workshops are held.
There are NO FLIGHTS directly to SKOPELOS as fortunately there is no airport
- it keeps all those bucket tourists out !
Some people like to fly one way & catch the bus & ferry one way so they can
see a bit of the mainland.
The nearest airport is on SKIATHOS - you can FLY directly to SKIATHOS from Athens, the UK & a number of European cities if you plan on traveling in Europe before or after the workshop. Then catch the ferry to Skopelos, about 40 - 60 minutes away depending on which boat you are on.
Check out www.expedia & www.aegeanair.com & www.skyexpress.gr for up to date flight details.
Here are a couple of websites that have info about the Greek ferry boats & timetables www.ferryconnection.com www.openseas.gr
You can also combine BUS & FERRY from Athens
NB. ferries DO NOT depart from Athens.
The PORTS they depart from are Agios Konstantinos, Volos & Mantoudi.
At this stage there will be no boats to/from Thessaloniki in 2018, hopefully this may change & I will update the website if it does.
ALKYON TRAVEL are the people to book bus & ferry transport between Athens and Skopelos. They issue combined bus and ferry tickets from Athens to Skopelos via Agios Konstantinos - the ferry port where you depart the mainland - 2½ hrs by bus, then approx 2½ hrs by ferry. Their website is www.alkyontravel.gr. You can also call them to book as they do speak English or you can email them to book - be patient, they can sometimes take a while to get back to you. Unfortunately, you can't book the combined bus / ferry ticket online.
Please note ALKYON travel in Athens will not be running a combined bus & ferry service until mid June so if you want to travel to Skopelos by bus & ferry before this you will need to catch a local KTEL bus http://ktelvolou.gr/en/home/ to Agios Konstantinos, Volos or Mantoudi & then a catch a boat to Skopelos https://www.ferryconnection.com http://www.openseas.gr/openseas/en/
NB. get off the boat in SKOPELOS not SKOPELOS GLOSSA unless you are catching the ferry from Mantoudi - in this case a free bus service is provided to bring you to SKOPELOS town.
We will meet you at the ferry on arrival in Skopelos - you will need to give us your arrival details when you know them.
You MUST take out travel insurance to attend our workshops & an INDEMNITY FORM needs to be signed before commencement.
WE DO NOT COVER YOU FOR ANY MISHAPS DURING THE WORKSHOPS including travel & health.
